A representative sample needs a defined sampling point and method. The record should connect each container to a lot, tank, vessel or batch, and capture the time, sampler, seal number and transfer of custody.
Storage and transport conditions may affect the result. Agree test parameters and laboratory route before collection so the amount, container and preservation method fit the purpose. A report should make any limitations visible.
